Life is Hard Update

Some of you who follow me on Facebook and Twitter may have noticed I have been quiet as of late. Well don't worry, I'm still alive (my newest video should prove as much), but I have been...distracted.

First, as many of you may know Alana is pregnant and her due date is July 24. In case you don't know your calendar that well, that is not that long off, so I have been spending a lot of time preparing the house for our new arrival. Mind you, I'm not complaining, but it does cut into my free time.

You want to know what else cuts into my free time? My day job. Yes, sadly being an alternate historian isn't as lucrative career as some might imagine, so I need to work the 9 to 5 like everyone else. My particular job has also been busier as of late, which means I'm working later, coming home later, working to prepare the home for the baby later...I hope you see where I am getting with this.

So yeah, my usual on the hour social media posts about alternate history are on a temporary hiatus until I finish some major projects and/or work calms down a bit. It sucks, but I still want time to prepare and record videos (which includes also preparing my new "set"). That said, I have seriously been considering moving to a video once every two weeks schedule because I think I need to be realistic about how much free time I am going to have in the coming months.

So a little disappointing, but I am hoping the extra time will mean I can spend more time getting videos right. I may even try doing some live streams here and there like my buddy Tristan does at Step Back History. I had a lot of fun the last time I was the guest for one of those and some people have suggested they would approve of me doing the same on my channel.

So in conclusion, please bear with me while I figure out my life. Videos are still on the way, they just might not come out as regularly scheduled.

What if Arthur Tudor was King?

King Arthur is only legend, but Britain almost had a real King Arthur...Arthur Tudor that is.

State of the Channel: January 2017

Happy new year everybody!

So 2016 is done and we have new year to fill ourselves with unimaginable dread and despair. I for one am trying to stay optimistic and will hopefully meet my scheduling goals. Speaking of that...

January 2017 Schedule

1/1: Trope Talk: Pin the Zion on the Map
1/8: Do Flat Earthers Think Pearl Harbor Was an Inside Job?
1/15: What If video
1/22: Map video
1/29: What If video

So you may have noticed that I didn't even get close to meeting my schedule for last month. Sorry guys, but with work, the holidays and some personal issues, I was left struggling to get even the couple videos I did get up published. Hopefully January will be better for me.

This week I should be finally posting "Trope Talk: Pin the Zion on the Map" (title card pending) and then next week I will post a map video which I am calling: "Do Flat Earthers Think Pearl Harbor Was An Inside Job?" Trust me, once you see the map we are focusing on that title will start making a lot more sense. After those videos I have a couple more untitled What If videos coming up and another map analysis video...so stay tuned.

Book Reviews

Do you guys want to see more book reviews? I've been thinking that a way to make my one video a week goal easier would be to throw in a few short, audio-only book reviews. That said, my book based videos have always been rather "meh" when it comes to views, so please let me know if this is something you want to see more of.

Amazing Stories

As some of you may know, I am a weekly contributor to Amazing Stories...and I have missed a couple of weeks. I hope to turn things around on that front soon, so my apologies for those who have missed my posts.

Welcome!

Hello everyone, I'm Matt Mitrovich, the alternate historian. Since 2011, I have been discussing and promoting alternate history wherever I go in the real and digital world. I am the host of The Alternate Historian channel on YouTube, the founder of the now defunct Alternate History Weekly Update, a blogger for Amazing Stories, a volunteer interviewer for SFFWorld and (perhaps my most cherished title) a Sidewise Awards for Alternate History judge.

On top of all that, I am an author of numerous short stories and the Historical Novel Society's Alternate History Guide. I will (hopefully) be publishing my essay on the online alternate history community titled "Warping History: An Overview of Fans and Creators of Alternate History in the Internet Age", which I originally presented at the 2015 Sideways in Time Conference at the University of Liverpool. Plus I've been interviewed and published countless times to the point that it would take too long to list them all.

This is to be my new official site where I will promote my videos and writings, keep you updated on my many projects and share my thoughts about alternate history, speculative fiction and the world in general. Its a new beginning for me and I hope you can join me by following this site. Don't forget you can also follow me on Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr and DeviantArt. If you become my patron on Patreon you will get access to my videos early and even get the chance to tell me what to create.

I look forward to changing history with all of you.
